TikTok Shop Opens Cross-Border Sales Between EU and UK | Amazon Seller News

TikTok Shop is making it easier for sellers to expand across European borders. In this week’s INNELS Amazon Seller News, we look at TikTok Shop’s new cross-border selling program between the European Union and the United Kingdom, what sellers need to qualify, and why the change could make TikTok Shop a more relevant expansion channel for European brands.

TikTok Shop Is Connecting EU and UK Sellers

TikTok Shop is preparing to open cross-border selling between eight EU markets and the United Kingdom. Sellers based in Belgium, Germany, France, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland and Spain will be able to offer products to British shoppers through TikTok Shop.

At the same time, UK sellers will gain access to consumers in the 12 countries covered by TikTok Shop’s existing Sell Across Europe network. The move effectively makes TikTok Shop a more connected European marketplace rather than a collection of separate national markets.

The change comes after TikTok Shop expanded into Austria, Belgium, the Netherlands and Poland in June, strengthening its European footprint and creating the infrastructure for broader cross-border selling.

UK Sellers Get Access to Continental Europe

For UK-based sellers, the opportunity is particularly interesting because TikTok Shop has already built a significant seller base in Britain.

More than 300,000 small businesses in the UK are already using TikTok Shop, according to the platform. TikTok Shop has also reported that the number of new sellers joining the platform has increased by 200% year over year.

The new cross-border model gives eligible UK sellers the opportunity to reach consumers across the 12 markets included in Sell Across Europe. Eligibility will depend on an assessment of the seller's current account status and performance.

For European brands, this means TikTok Shop can increasingly become part of a broader international expansion strategy rather than being treated only as a local social commerce channel.

EU Sellers Can Start Selling to the UK

EU sellers in the eight eligible countries will also be able to sell directly to British consumers.

TikTok Shop plans to begin a pilot with selected EU sellers on September 21, followed by a wider rollout on October 19. However, sellers will not be able to rely on TikTok Shop fulfillment for these UK orders. The only available shipping option will initially be Ship by Seller, meaning the seller is responsible for choosing and paying the courier and handling delivery issues with the customer.

This makes logistics an important part of the expansion decision. Reaching a new market through TikTok Shop may be technically simple, but sellers still need to make sure their shipping costs, delivery times, returns process and margins work before switching the market on.

Cross-Border Does Not Mean One Strategy Fits All

The biggest opportunity here is not simply access to more countries. It is the ability to test demand in new markets without building a completely separate sales infrastructure from scratch.

However, brands should not assume that a product that performs well in one European market will automatically perform the same way in another. Product positioning, pricing, content, creators, language and consumer expectations can all affect performance.

TikTok Shop is particularly different from traditional marketplaces because content is part of the sales engine. A successful cross-border strategy therefore needs more than translated listings. Brands need localized content and creator strategies that can generate demand in each market.

What This Means for Amazon Brands

For brands already selling successfully on Amazon, TikTok Shop is becoming a more interesting second marketplace channel.

Amazon is primarily search-led: customers often arrive with an existing purchase intention. TikTok Shop is much more content-led, meaning brands can create demand through videos, creators and social discovery.

The new EU–UK connection makes that difference even more valuable. A brand that already has proven products on Amazon can potentially use its existing product data, reviews, creative assets and market knowledge as a starting point for testing TikTok Shop in additional countries.

The key is not to simply copy an Amazon listing onto TikTok Shop. The content and customer journey need to be built around how people discover products on TikTok.

At INNELS, we see TikTok Shop becoming increasingly relevant for brands looking beyond Amazon-only growth. Cross-border access removes one of the barriers to testing new markets, but the brands that benefit most will be the ones that combine marketplace expansion with strong local content and creator strategies.

For brands considering TikTok Shop, the first question should not simply be “Can we sell there?” It should be “Which of our products have the strongest potential there, and what would it take to make them work?”

What Sellers Should Check Before Expanding

Before entering another TikTok Shop market, sellers should evaluate product-market fit, expected margins, shipping costs, delivery times and return requirements.

They should also review whether their existing content can be adapted to the new audience. A product with strong Amazon sales history may be a good candidate for TikTok Shop, but that does not guarantee that it will generate the same level of demand through short-form video.

This is where structured product analysis can save time. Instead of moving an entire catalog into a new market, brands can identify the products with the strongest potential and test those first.

TikTok Shop Is Moving Toward a Pan-European Model

TikTok Shop's latest expansion shows that the platform is moving toward a more connected European marketplace.

For sellers, that creates more opportunities to expand, but it also raises the importance of having a clear market-entry strategy. Cross-border selling can reduce some of the barriers to expansion, but logistics, content, pricing and local demand still determine whether the expansion is profitable.

For Amazon-first brands, this is another reason to evaluate TikTok Shop as part of a broader European marketplace strategy rather than treating it as simply another social media channel.

Final Perspective

TikTok Shop's EU–UK expansion gives eligible sellers access to a much larger potential customer base without requiring them to build an entirely separate ecommerce channel.

The opportunity is significant, but access alone is not a growth strategy. Sellers still need to identify the right products, understand the economics of each market and build content that works for local audiences.

As TikTok Shop continues expanding across Europe, brands that start testing the channel strategically may have an advantage over those waiting until cross-border competition becomes much more crowded.

It allows eligible sellers in eight EU countries to sell to UK consumers, while UK sellers can sell to consumers across TikTok Shop's 12-country European network.

Belgium, Germany, France, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland and Spain are included in the initial EU–UK program.

A pilot for selected EU sellers is scheduled to begin on September 21, 2026, followed by a broader rollout on October 19.

The initial UK cross-border program uses Ship by Seller. Sellers choose and pay for their own courier and remain responsible for delivery issues.

Yes. Eligible UK sellers can sell to consumers in the 12 countries included in TikTok Shop's Sell Across Europe network.

Not necessarily. Product positioning, language, creators and consumer preferences can differ significantly between markets.

Yes. Amazon brands can use TikTok Shop as an additional channel for content-led product discovery and international expansion.

Brands should evaluate product demand, margins, shipping, delivery times, returns and whether their content can be adapted effectively for the target market.
